Independent, depending how you see it

15 Jul

Leader or Follower describes most people, but there is a small minority of people who I call independents. I count myself among them.

They don’t lead; they don’t follow; they just do what works for them, what they think is right, what they like. Sometimes they seem to be leaders, because they’re paving their own way, but no one is following them, and they don’t care or want people to. And sometimes they seem to be followers, because what they decided to do just happens to be what everyone else is doing too.

It’s a great position to be in in life. There is the independence of being a leader, without the responsibility. 🙂

I have more to say on the whole concept of Leaders vs. Followers, but the question was “Are You a Leader or Follower”….I’ll leave my rambling rhetoric for later.

How about being a leader without any followers? 😉 It happens to independents. They have enough self-esteem and rightness to their convictions to be a leader, but all the followers are busy doing status quo…

to do your own thing means to be a followers of your heart. yet sometimes it seems that having the courage to be a part of the group is harder than staying an individual for fear of losing one’s self within the crowd. yes some people only follow for they have no mind of their own. but for the thinking individual it is a greater testimony of her individuality to be able to follow another whilst remaining true to herself.

I prefer the Puppet-master. Pulling strings from behind the scenes.
